Hearing problem since early childhood

Hi, I am 44 yrs of age I have had the hearing problem since early childhood it did not occur to me at the time when I was growing up. no one at school picked up on it until I started work at the age of 18 which is when I was told that I need my hearing checked by my employer.

When I had this done privately in the early 90’s I was told I had a moderate hearing loss which meant I needed hearing aids. It took almost 2 yrs after that appointment that I got a letter from NHS hearing. They gave me over the ears hearing aids which I had worn for about 15 yrs and with that came embarrassment, loss of confidence, emotional, bullied, cursed, singled out and last but not least laughed at. I currently wear hearing aids which were prescribed to me privately which go in the ears at a cost.

Since going private in 2007 I have spent almost £10k. I work part-time as I cannot find suitable jobs to accommodate my needs I have between 2006 to 2013 worked in call centre for HBOS and Experian during my time there I struggled to engage with ppl face to face and over the phone I have been marked down in my performance as they weren’t interested in most cases due to my hearing.

Excuse my french but being deaf or hard of hearing is a sh*t life as you can’t watch most programs that have no subtitles find jobs or have a sociable life.

I believe that when I was young around the age between 4 and 8 I had 4 head injuries all requiring stitches only no scans or further investigation on that front. Is there any way I can find out if my hearing loss is the result of the head injuries that I had.
Many regards and thank you for your patience and understanding and hard work for those with a hearing loss.
